An unlikely merging of the minds was formed this week involving Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler and Eels mentor Daniel Anderson ahead of the World Club Challenge.

Hasler and his crew reportedly caught up with Anderson in Castle Hill over coffee where the Parramatta guru provided some inside information on his experiences in the UK league.

"Daniel's information was thorough and quality," said Manly assistant Noel Cleal.

"Daniel spent a lot of time over in England and helped us to understand what we can and can't do ever there."

Should the advice translate into success on the field, Manly would become only the 4th NRL team to overcome the British homeground and wintry conditions and walk away with the WCC trophy.

Since the inaugural match between the champions of the NRL and the ESL was held in 1976, only the Sydney Roosters, Brisbane Broncos and Melbourne Storm have bucked the losing trend.

After leaving the New Zealand Warriors in 2004, Anderson went onto build an impressive win-loss record, taking out 57 from 77 matches while snatching 3 Challenge Cups
and the 2006 Super League title as well as bringing the World Club Challenge title home to
St Helens in 2007.

Manly are due to face Leeds Sunday week when 40,000 passionate poms will be rooting for their team at Elland Road.
