While failing to get the job done against Manly last Friday night at Brookvale, it was the Parramatta Eels">Parramatta Eels who almost got the last laugh on the man who walked out on them in 2004.
Lyon was hauled before a hearing after being put on report last weekend for a dangerous throw on the Parramatta winger Eric Grothe.
When Grothe’s mobile was dialed on the judiciary speaker phone, only a voice mail could be reached.
However even without Grothe being cross-examined, counsel Geoff Bellew SC still managed to put in a man of the match performance legally for his client.
“I was confident without being over confident - still at the bottom of your gut you are a bit worried,” Lyon said before a packed media scrum.
Meanwhile Melbourne Storm">Melbourne Storm lock Dallas Johnson will also be thanking the football gods tonight after he had a grade 2 dangerous high tackle on Reni Maitua downgraded.
Johnson managed to keep his representative dream alive after Melbourne assistant coach Dean Lance and Queensland coach Mal Meninga – convinced the panel the player was not looking at Maitua when contact was made with his head. - Read More, Here
