While the idea generated an extra spark to in the build-up to the annual showdown between St.George-Illawarra and South Sydney, it's understood that South Sydney Rabbitohs">South Sydney Rabbitohs officials have given up finding a sponsor for Lomu.
Lomu supposedly wants a $70,000 appearance fee to turn out for the South Sydney Rabbitohs">South Sydney Rabbitohs against the St. George Illawarra Dragons">St. George Illawarra Dragons at Stadium Australia on March 1.
"Because it's a charity game, we want any money to go to charity rather than giving it to a player," said Souths football director Shane Richardson.
"There are some good opportunities for anyone who wants to get behind this with a luncheon planned, signage and jersey space."
Should somebody fork out $70,000 for Lomu to play a one-off game or should Lomu pay South Sydney $70,000 for the honour of representing the red and green? Tell us what you think in our feedback forms below.
