Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers produced a perfect second half performance to defeat Cook Islands 24-8 in the Cup final of the International Nines tournament held at Cabramatta Sports Ground.
The Tigers led 10-8 at half-time after tries from Ryan Tandy and Mick Moran and went on with the job in the second half with a further four touchdowns.
In the semi-finals, Balmain beat Western Suburbs 12-6 after leading 4-0 at the break while the Cook Islands edged out Shellharbour 26-22 thanks to a try from Graeme Jeffries with just 40 seconds remaining in extra-time.
Fiji A proved too strong in the Trophy final, defeating Jim Beam Cup outfit Mounties 26-6. A late try from Dan Randall gave Windsor a 16-12 triumph against
PIRLA (Pacific Islands Rugby League Association) in the Plate final and the Newtown Jets had too much pace for a gallant Japan in the Bowl final, winning 36-4.
