The Wests Magpies sit only two points out of the top eight after stringing together a 42-38 win over premiership favourites Newcastle last Sunday.

However jubilation from their impressive win was dampened by Auckland’s 2-point victory over Manly at home in round 13.

The Lions ended a 6-match losing streak (something their brothers in first grade are hoping to in the NRL) and kept the Magpies glued to the bottom of the table.

But for how long? Wests appear to be mastering the art of consistency while their opponents in round 14, North Sydney, continue to slip and slide as the competition wears on.

Dragons fullback Ronald Prince is one step closer to returning to the big -time, leap frogging his regular duties in the Illawarra competition to play in Premier League.

The last time Prince played in the NRL was with Parramatta in 2004.
