Having not won a game since dousing the Dragons 26-20 in round 5, the pressure at the bottom of the table is starting to build especially with the Magpies recent lift in form.
The Magpies have won two of their last three games against Manly and Parramatta and look like benefiting the most from the form slump of the new kids on the block.
A win by the fibro house representatives would see them jump ahead of the Lions on competition points while keeping their slim finals hopes alive.
This weekend’s round of footy kicks off between North Sydney and Penrith at North Sydney Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears looked good odds of marching into the finals earlier this season but have since fallen out of the top eight. They need a victory now to rejuvenate some lost confidence and momentum.
