The suburban rivalry between St.George-Illawarra and Cronulla could be about to overlap off the field and into the coaches box, according to the latest tabloid talk.

According to The Sunday Telegraph St George-Illawarra have 'secretly hatched a plan to poach Cronulla coach Ricky Stuart as Nathan Brown's replacement for 2009.'

While Stuart's agent John Fordham confirmed that other NRL clubs had shown interest in luring the 2002 Premiership winning mentor away from the Sutherland Shire, Dragons boss Peter Doust quickly rebutted such speculation.

"We haven't approached Ricky Stuart," Doust said.

"No one from the board of the Dragons would have done anything in relation to our position without notifying me.

"We will be doing a due process in considering our circumstances in 2009 and beyond as far as coaching's concerned."

If such a plan were hypothetically unfolding then it would place greater pressure on Brown who has never taken the Dragons to a Grand Final despite the club appearing in the finals three times in six seasons.

Five existing NRL coaches have a year left on their contracts including Steve Folkes (Bulldogs - 1 premiership), Tim Sheens (Wests Tigers) and Graham Murray (Cowboys), Stuart (Cronulla) and Brown (Dragons).

Of the five coaches signatures up for grabs at the end of the season, who would you like to see come to your club?
