The Chester Hill Rhinos were left home sick following a late 39-38 loss to the Erina Eagles in round 20 of the NSWRL Jim Beam Cup.

Unable to make the finals in their debut season, the Rhinos were hoping to walk out winners in their last clash at Terry Lamb Reserve for 2007.

Ahead 38-35 with less then a minute remaining, coach Geoff Robinson looked like getting a measure of revenge for his side’s 38-16 loss to the Eagles back in round 9.

That was before rampaging second-rower David Vial –who had already scored an earlier try – went in again down the short side in the final 9 seconds of play.

As they did in the previous round, the Rhinos led at half-time (22-12) only to concede 27-points in the second-half and eventually some valuable competition points.

Stand-out players included Rhinos captain David Thompson who managed to score two tries of his own and Erina centre Matt Riddle who booted 5 goals and 1 field goal.

None of the four Jim Beam Cup sides making their debut this season look like they'll be playing in this year's finals series.
