Rugby
League fans who may need a distraction from the global financial crisis or a
break from their relationship can check out action from the English Challenge
Cup this weekend.

The preliminary
round battles re-commence on Saturday when Nottingham Outlaws and Loughborough
University seek a psychological edge over each. That’s according to the UK
media.

What
form that psychological edge takes remains a mystery but speculation is rife
that this could mean the winner feels on top of the world while the loser feels
shithouse.

Loughborough
coach Jimmy Lewis has already thrown the kitchen sink at his counterpart by
naming his squad ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash.

The
Lewis pack includes Simon Perry, Ian Keevil, Tom Branch and Aidan Pritchard who
will bring a superior degree of brawn over the Outlaws.

Winger
Chris McNamara will however not be partaking in this clash as he has to study hard in
the US.

Loughborough
has only conceded 54 points in nine matches resulting in them leading the
student National "Super Six" competition.

Meanwhile
Bristol Sonics will be looking to carve their name into the Rugby League record books this Sunday for all the right
reasons when they make their English Challenge Cub debut.

The
Sonics however will need to overthrow national student champions Leeds Met to continue on "the road to Wembley.”

As one
of the lowest ranked teams in the draw, Bristol face an uphill battle against an outfit packed with student internationals.

However
Sonics Head Coach Karl Fearnley who is using the magic of big thinking ahead of
this clash believes his side is capable of masterminding a historical upset.

“We've
been watching video footage of them in action, and amending our game plan
accordingly. We've got some great players ourselves, and if we can match them
in the forwards we have a chance,” Fearnley told the Rugby Football League.
