The Newtown Jets 100th season in Rugby League football commences on Saturday night when they play North Sydney in a trial match at Henson Park.

North Sydney and Newtown are both NSW Rugby League 1908 foundation member clubs which still play in Premier League.

Both sides hold 14 reserve grade titles between them (Norths 8 – 1940, 1942, 1955, 1959, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993 & Newtown 6 – 1922, 1947, 1948, 1951, 1970, 1974)

The pre-season clash will see the Bears run-out onto the field for the first time since forming a premier league partnership with South Sydney.

Wayne Lambkins will also be making his debut as North Sydney coach since leaving his former post at Canterbury-Bankstown.

Kick-Off is at 6pm with the car-park expected to be sold-out.
