The brains behind the Rugby League World Cup, Paul Barriere, has died at the age of 87.
Barriere kicked off his career in Rugby Union with Esperaza and Carcassone.
An active member of the French resistance during WWII when League was banned by the Vichy government, Barriere went onto become president of the French federation from 1947 to 1955.
He is remembered for helping implement France’s first tour of the southern hemisphere.
The 13th Rugby League World Cup will commence in Australia in October. - Read More, Here
