Hull KR sit in third spot on the English Super League ladder following a down-to-the-wire 24-20 victory over Les Catalans in round 2.

A last minute try to Stanley Gene proved to be the impetus behind the victory after the hosts led 14-6 at half-time.

Aaron Gorrell opened the scoring for the Dragons inside the fourth minute after Ben Galea gave away a penalty 20 metres out. Thomas Bosc missed the first shot at goal but then grabbed the two-points minutes later care of a penalty.

Galea made up for that costly error when he crossed over for his first ever try at Hull KR.

In-form sensation Jake Webster then levelled the scores at 6-all with a conversion before John Wilson grabbed the lead for the home side once again.

Bosc converted and then kicked another penalty with 10 minutes remaining to set up the half-time lead in favour of the French outfit.

Whilst he didn’t score any tries this week, Jake Webster helped set up Peter Fox’s little effort early in the second half care of a high-kick.

Fox grabbed a double minutes later after completing some good lead-up play from Galea and Ben Cockayne – Webster then added two points to put Hull in front up 18-14.

A close-range Clint Greenshields try which was converted by Bosc handed Mick Potter’s team the lead for the third time until Stanley Gene played like Lazerus with four minutes remaining.

It wasn’t all good news for Gene though who was placed on report for a fifth minute high tackle on Aaron Gorrell.

Meanwhile rumours are rife that Pepe Le Pew may stop watching Rugby League should Les Catalans form not improve in the coming weeks.
