Media murmur is speculating that Brisbane Broncos coach Wayne Bennett will announce he is stepping down from the job at the end of season 2008.

Neither Bennett or Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen have made any comments about the story which first appeared on a TV network’s website.

The club is expected to ring the media cavalry this morning and organise a press conference in relation to an announcement being made by Bennett.

His record at the Broncos is one to envy.

Not only does he holds six premierships next to his name in the NRL media guide (1992, 1993, 1997 [if you count Super League], 1998, 2000 and 2006), he’s taken Queensland to several wins in State of Origin and coached Australia 16 times.
